The article by the media outlet «Nova Ukrainska Shkola» presents the key results of the first year of piloting the educational platform «POVIR» (an acronym for «Overcoming Learning Losses and Gaps»), along with comments from the project’s co-authors — Head of the Board of the NGO «EdCamp Ukraine» Oleksandr Elkin and Member of the Ukrainian Parliament Serhii Koliieboshyn.

The platform’s creators emphasize that overcoming learning losses is only possible through a systemic approach, students’ own motivation, and the integration of Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning (SEEL). That is why the platform combines academic support with the work of SEEL-educators, who help students overcome fear and insecurity, and foster internal motivation and trust.

The «POVIR» platform operates through the models of Sprints, Marathons, and regular One-on-One sessions. This approach enables not only catching up on missed learning but also forming a new culture of interaction between students and teachers. Over the year, nearly 1,700 students from 111 schools in Ukraine and abroad joined the platform. Thanks to the integration of gamification (achievements, VirCoins, and POVIRpedia), over 96% of students completed the Marathons — a strong indicator of the effectiveness of this new pedagogical model.

As Serhii Koliieboshyn notes, participation in «POVIR» has also positively influenced teachers’ professional practices. Looking ahead, the team plans to expand its audience, launch a mobile application, and introduce new learning formats — including volunteer engagement of high school students.
